PENSION

On March 21, in a Chennai newspaper, India, "Pensioners list demands" say:
"Members of the Coordination Committee of Pensioner´s Associations today gathered in large numbers near Memorial Hall in Park Town to highlight their 21-point charter of demands.
They wanted th Goverment to pay in one instalment all pending pension benefits to those who retired after January 1, 1996, which were due in 2003-04. They said that according to G.O. No.200, the same pension amount given to those who retired on January 1, 1996 from one post, should be paid to those who retired from the same post before that date.
Staff retiring from Universities and Boards and Corporations should be given the same pension benefits as that given to Goverment servant. The coordination commitee will meet and decide on further course of action regarding the demands, said the members"

In Chile we have 20 years of a new Pension System (AFP), but the people is not getting the money thet they were told. It do not work so well. Because of that are changing the law about AFP. So now is a little bit harder to get retire.

AFS

America Field Service is one of the institution that does an effort into the world-wide peace, by knowing each other.

I was an Exchange Student during 1977-1978, my senior year in Salem Ohio USA. AFS AFS Chile

In 1958, the eight first Chilean students travel to the United States by the American Field Service.

Martina Jiménez, was the head of the Institution in voluntary form, Director was named National until 1970.

In 1971, they leave the first Chilean students in the multicultural program to Australia, Belgium, Germany and Italy, and AFS Chile, begins their challenge to open itself to the world. Three years later, begin to arrive at our country European students.

Juan Carlos Correa, was the National Director of AFS until 1978

In 1980, Pablo Fernández assumes like National Director and stays in the position until today.

In the decade of the 80, AFS Chile is opened to new programs, like for example, the one of professors, agricultural journalists, experts and the semester program of foreign students.
Today, with 45 years of history, AFS Chile is consolidated like one of the most prestigious institution of interchanges of the country. Five thousand Chileans have lived the experience on AFS and more than three thousand foreigners they have chosen to our country to CAME like students of interchanges.

I did have the oportunity to be received by Ramesh in Chenai, We meet each other by telephone because we are in a Hospitality Club. Both want to know people from other culture and he was very good host, the same day that we talk by telephone we meet at the hotel and he went with his daughter and we talk about diferent matters. On other day we went arround the city, I bought some tea and we went to drink Tea and Milk (very good). I did have to go to another city, so we can not see each other again, we still mailing. Thank to Ramesh and his family, because they let me be more then a tourist.

I was in my friend house from Germany and we talk alot about unemployment and retirement founds, and we agree that in Chile and Germany we have the same situation. We have alot of doubts about what will happend the next day. On other hand we saw how we have so diferent life and we live the same situations, like how our families developed. Our dynamic world is becoming very litle and to every country afect almost the same way.

Robert ist ein Freund von Deutschland, der mit Anpassungen zu mir versah und es zu mir sehr gut behandelte, mit dem gegenseitigen Interesse, unterschiedliche Kulturen beide immer zu treffen, die wir uns noch verstanden, ohne ein Sprachcommon zu kennen. Robert is a friend of Germany that provided with accomodations to me and it treated to me very well, with the mutual interest to always meet different cultures both we still understood itself without knowing a language common.
